How good must you be to play in a pub?

Must you know all genres? Must you be well versed in different beats? Must you...

Is there anyway to know if you are good enough to play in a pub?

i think you must first be playing in a band right? if you feel that your band is able to entertain a crowd then go and approach pub owners and get a chance to audition.

Hi there!

I teach drums actually. I'm just back from New York's Drummers Collective and have been drumming for more than 10 years. I have live experience playing at clubs, bars, mega churches, studio recordings and stadium sized concerts. I have a drum studio where I can teach one to one or a group of students anytime of the day. I teach rock, funk, jazz, afro-cuban, afro-pop, brazilian and church drumming.

Check out my website for samples of my playing, my influences and my bio.

chewy, can you stop posting in just about every recent thread? it would've been tolerable if the posts were different, but they're all the same: promoting your services.

However it's great to see you back from the drummer's collective (i know who you are), and even greater to see you teaching! 8)

One must be more professional than the pubs they are working for. Aside from playing skills, being responsible, punctual, accomdating and proactive to the needs of the establishment are part and parcel of being a pub musician.
I say this because, I, as a musician would rather be stressed out by employees, than to have none.

As to answer your question, there are many bands out there playing nights, al with different levels of musicianship. I guess its really to the person auditioning you as James mentioned.
