showcases evergreen music hits presented by our renowned local music acts - ADAM, ADIL & FRIENDS, GYPSY, WILSON DAVID and GRANDMA MARY.

Rock to the groove of the 60s, roll to the songs of the 70s and dance to the music of the 80s! This is pop at its best featuring Adam, Adil and Friends who have been in the pop music industry since the early 1970s. Other veteran performers who will entertain are Gypsy and the Elvis of Singapore, Wilson David. Also featured is Grandma Mary, a cool 70-year old rock guitarist who will rock you with her music.

Set amidst the tropical lush greenery of Sembawang Park at the edge of the cool blue sea of the Straits Of Johor, this NAC-ExxonMobil Concert-In-The-Park will surely bring the sounds of the hits of yesteryears alive. This programme also includes fringe activities and the very popular online photography competition. Bring a camera, bring a chair, bring a mat, bring a hat, bring your shades and bring your family for a jolly good, rolling time. This concert will certainly take your breath away!

Programme line-up:

Wilson David

A very popular singer in the 1960s, Wilson David recorded his first EP with The Jets. The four tracks included I'll Never Be Mad At You, I Love To Be By Your Side, Yours and Jezebel. The first two tracks were composed by Alan Poh of The Jets. Wilson also recorded an SP with The Moonglows, Cold And Lonely and That's Amore. He cultivated Elvis Presley’s look, with Elvis’ eyes and pompadour and sneer and all. Wilson also did a credible job of impersonating Elvis' deep, rich, sexually charged-up voice. There were plenty of Elvis impersonators in Singapore during that era, but Wilson David was touted to be the best of them all.

Gypsy

A 5-piece band that comprises 4 brothers, Gypsy was formed in 1979 and provided a brand of entertainment, vocal harmony and versatility that was never seen in Singapore at that time. It was also one of the pioneering bands to introduce Rock Music to the local night scene.

Adam, Adil and Friends

More popularly known as the “Five Series Band”, it is aptly called because of its 5 members who were hand-picked by 55 year-old prominent night-life entrepreneur Dennis Foo on the 5th month of 2008. Five Series comprise talented musicians from four different groups that had a huge following in the 1970s and 1980s: bassist, vocalist, English and Malay recording artiste, Moses Vadham, formerly with Gingerbread, and later with his brother, the late Chris, as the duo, Roses of Sausalito; rocker Jatt Ali, vocalist and drummer for Black Dog Bone, a heavy rock band of the 1970s with a huge following on both sides of the Causeway that eventually cut seven albums; Adil Hussein, Adam Joseph and Ben Gabriel from the trio Adam, Adil and Ben that entertained fans with their harmony and slick guitar play at the Treetops Bar in Holiday Inn that led them to an eight-year gig at Europa’s in Changi Village in the early 1980s; and the latest, and sixth member, Chris Miles, on drums who was from the band Legal Exile in the early 1980s.
Grandma Mary

A cool 73-year old grandma called Mary Ho who first started learning to strum the acoustic guitar at the age of 60. A rock guitarist after years of hard work and perseverance, Mary recorded her first CD entitled “Grandma Mary’s Latin Rock”. Mary draws her inspiration from guitar legends like Carlos Santana and BB King and has performed at various public events. She appeared on "Rouge", a premiere TV talkshow produced by MediaCorp Singapore, in March 2008.
