hello.
i don't know if i've posted this in the right section. sorry if i didn't.

well, i got a question.
you know those springs found at the back of your strats?
what does it do actually?
and i've seen like, 3, 4, or even 5 springs back there. sometimes they're slanted and sometimes they're put straight. what difference does this make?

thanks:mrgreen:

Those sprigs provide tension floating your bridge.

You have max 5 slots for springs and if less is used, it needs to be spread out evenly, thus the 3 spring 'slanted' as above pic.

More spring = more tension = less movement of bridge while playing.
Thats why heavy pluckers and heavy gauge users max it to 5 and further adjust the spring tension via the two big screws to body.

There is a lot more to floating bridge ...google
