Does gym mat helps in absorbing kick pedal sounds?

Got an electric drum kit recently but noted that the kick pad does produce vibration that annoys neighbours downstairs.. does gym mats help to reduce the sound the kick pad produces? Thinking of getting those thick rubber mats u'd see in gym's free weights area.. then cover d mat with a drum rug..

No, it won't help. The problem is the thumping, not the vibration, because the sound will be heard both above and below you.

You need to look into the possibility of building a tennis ball riser for your drums. Look it up, should be quite simple to build. And if you are planning, drop me a PM, I need to get one for myself too, we could maybe talk to a carpenter for a discount price.
