i found it quite hard to get a clear ringing tone when playing barre chords, especially those at the higher frets.

any tips n tricks?

hmm i seem to have that problem only at the first and maybe second frets.

there are gadgets available to help you to tone up your finger muscles, i think you could get them at a good guitar shop. not sure if i´m right about their use though.

for now maybe you could try not to strum all the strings, like maybe from 355433 to 3554xx. would depend on the song...

Most people make the decision to press a full barre. Truth is if you´re doing rhythm you don´t have to do that, just hammer the 3 note chord and it´ll be fine.

You could try lowering the action on your guiatr and straightening the neck. This will reduce the tension on the strings and make it easier to barre or bend the strings. Otherwise try a different gauge or brand of strings, this may also reduce the tension and make playing easier.

cheers,

mark.
