Hi, Anyone like to share the different type of pick-ups(PJ, Humbuck, single, P, and etc) and how it affect the sound?

Also what are the good brands of pickups.(Bartolini, EMG, Bassline and etc?)

Cheers

the best way to find out is to listen to clips. they all sound different

with regards to the pups, a well seasoned bassist told me that the EMG pups colour the tone to a great extent... which means that most of the tonal characteristics are inherent from the pups rather than from the guitar itself. i've never tried one so i have no opinion

Think the body's wood play a big part in the characteristic as well.
Some people say that humbuck got a warmer sound, where jazz is more sweet and PJ suitable for funk.
Anyone any idea?

yea i agree with u..the body's wood plays the big part of the characteristic of ur guitar..great pickup doesn't mean it great 4 ur guitar..i'm using emg81/85 for my rg..but the 85(neck) doesn't sound rite to me..it boost up my low end so much and the sound get so so fat(even though i've cut the bass eq)..i'm a die hard fan of rock n metal,so 4 me the emg 81 is the best pick up to play this kind of music..

hi...well, im currently using a jazz soapbar pickup's

will get a EMG DC
EMG 85...

so you should know what kind of sound i want..hahahaha....

I like Anthony Jackson's Fodera Bass.

Perhaps the pre-amp setting help to achieve that chucky sound.

I replace my Jazz bass with EMG active pickups in 2002.. Sure make a different to the sound.

Thk cost ard $200++ that time
