Delay recommendation?

The CC is quite dark and if you're using it as a subtle delay to add more space to your playing then it should suit it nicely. If u want bright and clear repeats then a digital delay will be a better choice cos the CC wont really be heard in a jamming/ live situation.

That depends on what you need to use delay for. Do you need something that sits nicely under your signal, just to add depths during solos and such?
Do you need something that can synchronize with your guitar via a tap tempo or such, ala U2?
Or do you want short timing slapback stuff?

If you need depth, and likely don't need long delay times, the MXR Carbon Copy, being dark can do that. Another delay that's the king of doing this is the Way Huge Aquapuss (get it cheap at Davis). Also a Malekko 616 delay is a worthy contender on the list, being more brighter than the CC. And if you have the dough, the Retro-Sonic Analog Delay is the legendary BOSS DM-2 with some modern modifications.

If you need pristine delay to do dotted eights, etc, you would need to look at digital delays. The Hardwire DL-8 does this well and has a tap tempo mode too. The discontinued BOSS DD-5 sits very well in the mix. Another affordable option that sounds good is the Ibanez DE-7.
