Hey! Damnit, dir's already mentioned most of the bands I was going to say. Anyway, have you heard of sleepmakeswaves? They're from Sydney. AWESOME post-rock band.

I've seen them the 4 times they've been down to Melbourne in the last couple of months. Haha. Great guys too! =)
Anyway, also check out Mono and World's End Girlfriend. 2 artists, both awesome! They did a collab together too, which is awesome-er. Lol.
And that's sweet that you're in Sydney! Uni?
ah, good to know. Didn't know that about Evpatoria Report. I've not been paying attention I guess. I also want to mention that Australia and Taiwan, and also Malaysia have a good, albeit under-appreciated post-rock scene. Especially Australia. I'm not remembering names right now, haha but if you are so inclined you can check them out online. Nowadays I seem to get more enjoyment from listening to random bands across the internet and myspace, of all places. Here are some bands I've stumbled onto that sounds pretty good:

ok, that's all for the spam right now!
hey, how's it hanging? Post-rock you say? I've got quite a few to recommend. It depends on your taste actually. Do you like the long slow-building epic tracks, or the melodic, tempo-changing, guitar-driven instrumentals?

For the former, I'd say Caspian, The Evpatoria Report, This Will Destroy You, Godspeed You! Black Emperor (listen to "Lift your Skinny Fists Like Antennae to Heaven" in its entirety if you get the chance to), Mogwai, A Silver Mt. Zion, EF, Dirty Three, God is an Astronaut, Amiina, Jakob and a whole lot more. Some of this stuff are quite heavy on the ears if you're new to post-rock though.

The other style (some call it math rock) I'd recommend is 65daysofstatic, Maybeshewill, te', toe, miaou, slint, The Octopus Project, Maserati, The Mercury Program, The Samuel Jackson Five, If These Trees Could Talk..

I've just got up from bed and feeling a lil groggy so I probably left some good bands out while ignoring the most obvious ones but that should start you off. If you need anymore details on specific band or more recommendations or some mp3s you can always message me. The fun is in trying to discover more music.

also a lot of people like Envy and some kind of post-metal like ISIS, Pelican, Russian Circles.
