I just purchased 2 AT2020s after hearing some good words about it. I am not a trained sound engineer and the recordings I do will only cover the following: Solo piano concert, chamber music with piano, piano workshops (with of course people talking). I don't have a mixer but I do have a Zoom H4 to link up these two mics. My question is what kind of setup would be optimal? I don't have much chance to try them out yet but I did record my piano in a stereo setup with the two mics placed in front of the piano diagonally on the left and right. So far everything sounded pretty okay, although I feel the top frequency sound a little brittle.
Also, I realised I could have actually bought AT2020 and AT2021 as a studio pack instead. I could not find any comprehensive reviews on AT2021 though. Would it be better if I invest in one or two more AT2021s since it seems that AT2021 is positioned towards recording acoustic instruments? However I understand AT2020 works better with sounds with lower SPL and since I will need to keep the mics a distance away from the piano ( hence lower SPL ) to minimise unsightly equipment clutter, so that does mean AT2020s will be better for the job?
