I haven't heard the violin original..does it sound as fast as Petrucci's version?

Hear the orchestra version. Proof of why classical musicians are the best "shredders"

Imagine 40 to 60 people shredding in sync on violins, cellos and flutes..etc

I imagine that would sound like one gawdawful din! My feeling was that the lead players, for example the lead violinist would do the main melody while the others play accompaniment. I stand corrected though. A link would be very much welcome.

No...actually, it sounds way better than petrucci's manic speed shredding and much much better than maxims piano "new-age" version. The "shredding" actually makes the song sound like the humming of bees and their buzzing, hence the name. The violin sections works as a group, this applies to all the string sections, woodwind and pecussions..etc

Another song worth listening to with so called "shredding" is one of the songs from fantasia, I can't remember the name exactly, but those Disney cartoons always like to play it when they are depicting Tornados, Hurricanes..etc lots of chromatic scales up and down plus lots of crescendo dynamics.

I dun have a link to the song though, got it in mp3.

erm...anybody knows if there is a recorded and tabbed version of this classic for guitars? thks.

Sting of the Bumble Bee by Manowar from the album Kings of Metal

Of the few classical versions of Bumblebee I've heard, it was a single violin whizzing through the lead melody. Other instruments provided accompaniment. Anyway, I prefer the hyper speed and agression of Petrucci's version anyday.
