To anyone who has experience with vPOST, can tell me what do they usually do next after the "Acknowledged outgoing items" stage?

Will they deliver asap? Or are there like other processing stages?

And if this is the second last step(next to deliver to doorstep), can anyone tell me how long they usually take to deliver it to my doorstep? No need exact timing, just want to see usually how long they delay delay before they actually send it ((:

CHEERS!
WOot darn happy. Just went to sweelee and davisguitar today summore to buy my amp/strap/cable (:
And yes i am a first-timer electric guitarist.

4 days to send it over! I was blown away!! O: =D

Haha around $910 incl shipping cost, $25 insurance and waiting time.

Yes i regret buying online haha. Would have gotten my strat cheaper in SG from those little unknown shops but well i wasnt a softie yet when i ordered my guitar so i didnt really do my homework :D besides i dont think those little unknown shops stock the strat color+fretboard that i want.

Yeah shipping for bolt ons damn cheap also. Can break it down into 2. And strats are indestructible! So no worries :P

Yeah haha i couldnt really care less about minor scuffs in the finish, more worried about how vpost handled my strat...
And when it's arriving. Its been in SG in some ulu holding site for a day and its still not on my doorstep.

bro, where did you buy your guitar and the process? i was planning on buying online but got confused with the vpost thing

thank you

do share pics/ comments when you finally receive your instrument. if there's any anomalies/ queries, share with us as well; unlike buying instruments from stores here, we don't get to 'test drive' the instrument before buying so there might be issues arising. in any case, we'd be glad to help.

thank you

When you sign up for vPost, they give you a list of addresses (USA, Japan, etc) that includes a numeric code that is keyed into their database that will match your shipping address. So let's say you buy an item from USA that doesn't ship to Singapore, you give the USA address to the seller/merchant the vPost address and they will ship it there. When it arrives at the vPost office, they will identify your vPost numeric code and search their database for your shipping address in Singapore and ship it here.

Haha shipping prices hijacked this thread. So anyone know roughly when they (vPOST,SingPost, whatever they use) will deliver it to doorstep? 24 hrs later and im still waiting for it.

Call them and ask them lor. Usually they have a schedule and they will insert your package in accordingly. All depends on their backlog. As for the exact timing, it's like predicting the weather in Singapore. All luck-based. If you miss it, you will have to reschedule the delivery.

Ahh ok. I bought from American Musical Supply , i heard they were very good, they set up ur instrument before they pack it in.
As for the process...

Step 1 - Persuade Parents.

LOL.

1. Sign up on vPOST,
https://www.vpost.com.sg/helpdesk/faq/g_billpresentment.jsp?option=2
here's a link to guide you with the verification of your account

2. Order guitar from AMS, paid by cc

3. AMS (very fast) immediately ship your guitar to your vPOST address (Mine was in Oregon)
You have to send an invoice of ur purchase to vPOST to inform them about ur purchase. if they dont receive and process ur invoice by the time your guitar arrive at vPOST address...you pretty much die liao.

4. vPOST will receive and process ur package at the vPOST address

5. They will have a status "Awaiting Delivery" which means that its supposed to be delivered to you (SG)
However they wont tell you when they START shipping, and you'll only be able to see that "Awaiting delivery", no further news until it arrives in SG then u can use their Track n Trace.

6. Your guitar is received and processed in the SG thing

7. (I guess they send it to your doorstep cuz thats what im waiting for now)

As for the vPOST address thing, plunkie's right but i'll simplify:

They give you an address in USA/Japan/Europe. When you buy ur guitar, just put the delivery address as the vPOSTUSA address.
When your merchant ship it there, vPOSTUSA will receive it and then send it to SG.
When it arrives at SG (They say usually 5~8 daysm ,mine arrived in three and many others arrived later) i guess they send to ur doorstep.

You can also opt for scheduled timing when means they are forced to deliver it to you by a stipulated timeframe.
If not go sue them. =D

Hope that helped. If you got any vPOST troubles just post... i'm itching for other ppl's experience with them.

Cheers~

subversion: I'll definitely post pics on the Guitar gear section.

dodgethis: Haha i actually set my alarm at 8.30AM today just to call them but i've been procrastinating... im new to soft and haha this forum just too addicting.

And huckie, i strongly suggest you buy in SG, go scout around and improve ur shopper knowledge... i just went to music theme ytd and saw the SSS strat MIJ going for $800+, close to $900. Mine includes half a month waiting time (cuz my guitar was land-shipped from NJ to Oregon...took a week)

Unless you buying some special discontinued series or some steve vai signed guitar, DONT BUY OVERSEAS.
The waiting time is horrible (well maybe thats cause i only have my acoustic to keep me company...:P)

OK imma stop procrastinating...calling them now.

awesome haha i just called vPOST...they say i should be receiving it anytime by today 6pm.

Its 12pm now, vpost.... the clock is ticking....

make sure you take pix the moment the door bell rang...till u open the box..
so roughly how long you waited for the guitar??
Im thinkg of purchasing one too...but via mytradingpost but still undecided..

cheers

O: well i ordered my guitar from AMS at 23rd May, Sunday, exactly 10:00PM...

Then it traveled across continental america (from extreme east to extreme west), from new jersey to oregon... took a week.

Then it arrived at the oregon site, i paid for it, and then they ship to SG. vPOST standards may be going up but i'd rather buy locally.
It must feel awesome carrying the guitar home!

And yes my camera waiting. I feel like punking the postman..take pic of him.... but too shy haha.

Imagine!

*ring doorbell*

"Hi sir can you just sign over-" *FLASH*

Picture: SingPostman at doorstep, smiling, holding my big box.

Im so excited! First electric i own haha.

Hoho i share your excitement . My package is probably going to arrive in a day or two. Been checking the online tracking every few hours. Its driving me nuts lol.

Haha templar, hope it arrives soon (: What did you buy?
Actually the vPOST tracking kinda sucks. So i got bored, googled a bit and then ended up in soft. and thats how i became a softie =D
What freight forwarder did you use?

nah... if their tracking system was more exciting you wouldn't have found soft when you did ;). Welcome to soft!! Hope your guitar arrives in good time.
