Hi all,

Letting go my Martin 000-15M with LR Baggs Lyric pickup installed. This is the full solid Made in USA model, not the cheaper Road Series.

Bought for my wife 2 years ago, this guitar is extremely comfortable to play. Very comfortable neck profile with a smaller body size that sits well with Asians like us. The full mahogany body gives it a very warm woody tone. Especially excels in acoustic sets and accompaniment with vocals. Retails for $1.9k at City Music. The LR Baggs Lyric costs around $400.

I am the first owner, bought direct from City Music. No major dings. Lightly played and dehumidified regularly.

Price: $1,600 with original Martin hardcase

Trades:
1. Baden D-style rosewood, maple or any A-style except maple. Top up from your side accordingly

Received repeated queries regarding this guitar, thought I make a quick FAQ.

What are the differences between the 15(M) series and the Martin Road Series (E.g. DRS, 000RS etc.)?

1. Country of origin - The 15 series is made in USA, the Road Series is made in Mexico. I have owned and played my fair share of Martins, there is a difference in build quality.

2. Woods used in construction - Both are full solid guitars, but the similarity largely ends here. The 000-15M is full mahogany with higher quality woods used overall, E.g. rosewood bridge. The mahogany Road Series guitars are made from Sapele, a cheaper variant of mahogany. Similar characteristics, but there is a difference in quality of tone for sure. The Road Series also uses more budget woods overall, e.g. black richlite for bridge.

3. List / Street price - The Road series retailed for close to 40% less than the original 15 series.

4. Different Series! - The 15(M) series is meant to feel and sound like a true blue Martin for the tone connoisseurs. The Road Series, as the name suggests, was started by Martin to give players a cheaper alternative to bringing their precious Martins on the Road and risking damage. I believe, however, that the Road Series guitars are great stage and travelling instruments.

In conclusion, please do not ask why my 000-15M is priced higher than any particular guitar selling now. This is a Martin built to the highest standards in their USA factory, not meant to be an entry level guitar. Try it out for yourself and I guarantee you the asking price is well justified.
