This piece was made in 1988 (according to the stamp on the body, and the serial number on the neck).
The standard colours for the series was Vintage White, Sonic Blue and Candy Red. However, there were also several unique finishes during that period which was not commonly produced - Seafoam Green, Black, Metallic Cream, and some others which you may find out.
This particular piece has been in the memorabilia since mid 90s. I cannot prove that this guitar was played by the man himself, but nonetheless, it has been made with seriously high quality parts. It has also aged gracefully. Original hardcase has since been lost, but Ill provide a normal Fender tweed hardcase. No cert or documents as well, sadly.
The neck itself would be worth quite a bit. The neck was crafted by Herbie Gastelum (Custom Shop employee), one of the oldest craftsman of Fender. This neck has such a comfortable scallops, unlike the newer models, which are too deep. The neck has aged so well that it is so comfortable to play. Also, this model comes with a brass nut. The early models were made with this nut, but has since ceased production due to manufacturing cost.
Yngwie said: “With a plastic nut you just mould it, but with a brass nut you have to craft it and file it out by hand, which takes a long time and costs a lot more money.”
This model has:
- 50s headstock
- no access to truss rod, except by removing pickguard
- Dimarzio vintage tuners
- Brass nut
- 'Gastelum' stamped neck
- Dimarzio HS-3 in neck and bridge
- Regular Fender single-coil in middle
- TBX tone pots (read more to find out about these high-quality forgotten pots)
- two-posts vintage bridge
- a very well-seasoned tremolo bar
Just PM me to test or deal. Please note the value of this guitar. I prefer to sell.
I appreciate all the offers for trade, but be mindful of what is reasonable for a trade. You can't possibly ask for a trade with a MIM strat, right? (No offence to MIM strat owners! i love the roadworn MIM!)
Do not buy this guitar if you are just a player..You'd have to be a Yngwie worshipper to appreciate this piece. This piece captured the essence of his original specifications at the start of his career.
My photography skills are so bad, oh my!
