Thanks for the kind words reez_rock. A fake guitar is a low quality made guitar to capitalize on a famous brand. Most china fakes are really badly made, they only fit to be used as fire wood. They are also made in large quantities and they are illegal. Some sellers are so despicable as to sell them as original. As you guys know, big names like Gibson and Fender are taking a strong stance against these China made fakes. A high quality replica is often handmade by a luthier, with the buyer choosing the different tone woods, pickups and hardware. Most handmade replica made by extremely good luthiers are even better made than their original counterparts. A very famous luthier who is known for his extremely accurate version of the 1959 Gibson Les Paul Standard puts Gibson's version to shame but be prepared to pay around $15k usd and wait for nearly a year. Slash from GNR is known to have used a 1959 Les Paul replica on Appetite For Destruction made by the late Kris Derrig and Slash also uses another Max Guitars 1959 Les Paul replica made by "Max" Peter Baranet. Both these Les Paul replicas are Slash's number one choices when he's recording in the studio. Both Kris Derrig's and Max Les Paul replicas cost anywhere between $25k usd to $40k usd. I hope this will help some of you understand the differences between a hand end quality handmade replica and a China made fake guitar. Sorry for hijacking the thread. Cheers
