Hi everyone, I'm looking to sell my Gibson R8 as I would like to buy a new guitar. This guitar was finished with Gibson's Vintage Original Spec aging and comes with a 2 layered rosewood fingerboard as well as nitrocellulose inlays and stock 50's wiring. The pickups are Burstbucker 1 and 2 and this guitar has a warm, thick and powerful tone with great sustain. Weight is approximately 8.8lbs and has almost no fret wear. All original case candy, hang tags and the original COA and brown historic case are included. For reference, this guitar's neck thickness and feel is similar to or smaller than R9s made prior to 2009.
The only modifications I've made to this instrument was to add a StewMac Gibson truss rod spacer to the truss rod because the wood under the truss rod washer has compressed by approximately 0.133 inch in order to straighten the neck for a set of 10 gauge strings. The guitar is now set up perfectly and plays great. Neck stability has been verified through daily scans on the Plek machine at Swee Lee thanks to the hard work of their American head luthier James who is in my humble opinion one of the best luthiers in Asia.
This instrument may be tested, inspected and collected at my place in the East Coast. Thank you!
