Wrong settings or is it just me?

First and foremost, a big hello to all Softies!

I don't know if I sound like a retard asking this but to hell with that, I NEED HELP! I've just got my guitar and amp less than a week ago and it's a lot of fun learning but I've got a problem. I found out, when I'm trying to cover this particular song from a seemingly reliable tableture, that my chords ring out for too long. When I listened to others covering the exact same song, playing the exact same thing on YouTube, their chords sound much shorter and more appropriate, just like how the original song sounded like. Settings-wise, my amp is on the Overdrive channel at Gain half to max(it doesn't matter where it was set to, the problem persists). Is there something I had missed out on? Or is it that my amp isn't set correctly?

probably too much gain.. but whats wrong with chords sustaining too long?

dont want sustain just mute the strings i guess?

I've tried setting the gain to very low but it still sustains for quite long. So I need to mute the strings after every three strums and then?

It's wrong because it doesn't sound like the real thing.

may i know the song? and your guitar and amp

usually sustain is a good thing actually. ur pickups could be crazy high output contributing to the compression.

My guitar is the Rally GL 400.
NUX Mighty 15 is my amp.
Song is Escapism by An Cafe.

Thank you for helping so far!

Haha I'll try my hand at muting some time. Luckily that it's not caused by a problem in the equipment or else really G.G
