1) A big place to perform at air-conditioned hall.
2) A regular (weekly/monthly) gig for your band to perform and showcase your originals.
3) A place where the crowd is always good and passionate.
4) A place where you're able to mingle with your fans regularly.
5) A place to challenge different bands for a competition.
6) A place for bands from different background and influences to gather around.
7) A place where you can always see your favorite local bands perform.

Simply to put it: A regular gig event where any bands from any genre and languages can perform and build up your fan base at the same time can get to know other good bands ard the island playing different genre.

I know you can usually do so at the esplanade if you're really tight and good. Would you consider such event if you're in a band?

qns what genre are we referring too?

Well, something like English Rock, Jrock, Jazz, Chinese Rock/ Pop, korean even..

soul... r&b...

just that no hardcore allowed , the rest is fine =)

how? such event you think appealing or not? to you guys

I think from a band's perspective, any opportunity to perform is always welcomed. Of course no shady organizers.

I think it'll be great! My band would love it if there is a chance to perform in a gig like that. Normally at Esplanade they only allow genre's like, jazz, pop, rock, alternative right?

Any bands who needs a breakthrough, would love to perform anywhere. Do update us on the gig details if possible. Of cause, try to listen and study the band's background/videos/samples/reviews, before engaging them.

@convolt, I think esplanade is more opened to any genre, as long as they sound and look tight for that particular genre.

i think the heavier genres of music are still shunned, no matter how tight and how good they sound.

e.g. to a black metal fan DI sounds and are tight when playing, but to others its just noise and rubbish.

and the majority got this mindset that blackmetal got something to do with devil. But I've seen metal band players being normal in their daily life. Just for the love of music :)

From the organizer:

We know there are many of you out there who loves music and performing in front of a passionate sell-out crowd. What we are trying to do is just to provide you guys with a regular platform to perform, and to enjoy it with your friends and a place to build up your fan base, show off your originals and let us HEAR you. To be honest, we’re losing money every time we organized such events, all the fees we’ve collected are for rental of CC spaces, prize money, labor, transport and mobilization of the instruments.

If we can make this event a successful one, expect more to come on regular basis, weekly and monthly, let this be the beginning of something great.

For those who wish to sign up, all the best and see you there.

Yours
Music Villa Jamming
