Will power supply affect my pedal tone?

Hi everyone, I have a question.

I recent acquired a pedal (Monte mod MT2) which consumes battery like crazy! I bought a 9v battery (everyday brand) and the battery last only 10mins LOL.

Ok so I was wondering, since this pedal consumes so much power supply, if im using a power supply adapter with daisy chain connecting a few other pedals, will the other pedals be affected? Because the 9v power supply is being shared by 5 other pedals and this particular pedal consumes so much, will it somehow suck away the power of the other pedals?

Hope you guys understand my question.

is it the mod with the NE5532 opamp? this opamp will increase the current consumption of the pedal. to make sure your power supply is sufficient, take note of the current consumption of each pedal, add them up and see if they are less than the total amount of current your power supply can provide

ok, for basics. your power supply must have a current rating of 1000mA or more since you wanted to supply 5 pedals, the bigger the current, the better the headroom. the current rating on your pedals are your reference

to answer your title question... for fuzz pedals, sometimes they have a "battery sagging" which acts as a voltage regulator for the pedal. hence, it will affect the fuzz performance and tone. :D

Thanks for the replies, but I'm still a bit lost here haha.

I'm not too sure what mods were done for the Monte mod so I don't know how much current is consumed for that pedal.

As for the 1000mA, how much does a standard 9v adapter supply? I need to check my stuff when I get home lol.

depends on which one you use. 1spot style adaptors or isolated power supplies?

Biyang - 400mA
1spot - 1000mA (or more)

doesn't matter which mod, as far as i know, it cant reach up to 200mah which is lesser than a standard 9V adapter(usual rating is 250, 400, 500mah) :D

Oh ok, later I go home check then let u guys know. Thanks again for all the help so far!

if u get a high capacity power supply like the onespot adapter u will have no problems powering your pedals due to its high current capacity. however, such power supplies tend to be really succeptable to hum from the power mains.

daisy chaining your pedals will also increase the chance of getting ground loops, which causes hum and reduces the clarity of your tone

the biyang adapter is more quiet than the onespot but has a smaller current output. if the current capacity is enough I think u should go for the biyang adapter.

if your setup has excessive hum when you use a daisy chain, maybe u can look into investing in a isolated power supply such as the cioks schizophric or fuel tank jr

u may also consider units such as the cioks baby mach, although all outputs are not isolated from each other, the power supply is well regulated and well filtered so you should get less noise as compared to a generic adapter

There is still so much I need to learn, thanks everyone for sharing your knowledge.

Well, i just checked my adapter which I got from TYMC, its Power supply is 600mA, so far I am only using 2 pedals with a total of about 300mA. So, tell me if i got this right -> As long as my pedals current requirement dont exceed 600mA i should be fine right?

Yup u should be set to go :D
