why my guitar produce only acoustic sound?

i suppose you're playing on clean? i believe you need distortion, and that can be achieved through the use of a pedal or your amp's distortion channel.

stratocaster and telecaster, well.. there's quite some differences other than the sound. the body, the wiring, the feel and other factors.

i just bought a cheapo amo today, with only volume ,bass, treble control and drive on/off button. so ..that's...the problem?

Thanks.

:-(

well just press the drive on/off button and i think u can somewhat get distortion already. or alternative, you can get a pedal, the idea is like what you posted but not those kind la. for that sound, you need to get a distortion pedal, not a tremolo or autowah pedal.

since you are starting out, i would advice against pedals, as a cheap amp will not be able to have good distorted sounds no matter what.
cheap amp= have sound.
better amp= better sound.

generally, amps have both clean and drive like tones (generally,) and getting a slightly better amp will enable you to achieve distortion like the one in the utube vid...
after you're happy with your amp is when you start getting effects if you want..

Okay, the tone you want to achieve is achieved through distortion, there are various types of distortion. Most of them can be achieved through pedals which specialize in them, such as 'distortion', 'overdrive' etc. There are also amps with distortion channels. The 'Drive' button on your amplifier is one such example, it overdrives the tone of your guitar to give it a more metal/rock feel. =)

well, you're still a beginner, judging from the post.

it'll be great if we actually know the brand and model of the amp you bought so that we can help, but since almost all beginner amps are the same, well....

ok.. if you pressed the drive button, but still sounds clean (not acoustic, coz elec guitar doesnt give resonance!), adjust the "Gain" knob. you shld know what the bass and treble does. the mid knob adjusts how you want the whole tone to sound from scooped (level zero, kinda metallish) to woody (let's just say i got these terms from my marshall guide). as for pedals, dont buy them just yet. if you rely too much on effects 'at an early playing age", you tend to suck once effects are taken away from you.

so start clean :)

Hey hey hey deathism, i know u and re_unknown goa loooong way back. Lets not start this again shall we? We're here to help. And +1 to fiqthefallen's comments, do start clean, at least for 1-2 mths then slowly crank up the gain BUT not until ur mind's blown(like mine).

difference between a Stratocaster and a Telecaster

a Telecaster is a whole block of wood with 2 pickups( a lipstick tube on the rythm and a single coil on the treble pickup) rythm pick up is next to the neck and treble is the one next to the bridge. good for country , and all the Telecaster was derived from the Esquire . it has a fixed bridge so no whammy bar to mess around with and make cool sounds but it stays in tune longer . like most fender guitars , it is a thru body that means the strings go right through the body. A Stratocaster has a contoured body for easier playing and 3 pickups , the middle pickup is usually reversed wounded to reduce hum and all . a variety of sounds can be derived from the strat making it slightly more versatile . it has a whammy bar in most strats and a 5 way switch compared to the tele's 3 way . overall i prefer the strat but a tele sure looks cool and the lipstick tube sounds really good too .anyone is welcomed to correct me or add on .
