Hi dcturbo, The shop retailing are Ranking sports at bras basah 3rd floor, opposite swee lee,
Musictheme at excelsior shopping mall b1, I would prefer to go ranking as it carries more products there :)

Thanks, buddy. Will chk out with the aunty there. Was the drum kit the M5 series? Wonder how much they sell it for ... surely not cheaper than the Gretsch Catalina Maples ... :p

There is a few sets at music theme as well, i rmb a maple kit going for $1.4K? Correct me if i am wrong :X

Ya, at Music Theme they were selling the Maple kit @ $1.4k. Not sure whether any change in price as that was like earlier this year. The PDP M5 should be around that price since its about the same range.

Realise from Gretsch website that there is a new Maple kit that gives away an 8" tom for free. I thought that was quite a catch.

Hey there,
Unless you wanna buy a whole kit, buy online instead. I shipped a 14 x 6.5 PDP Ace snare over to Singapore and it costs only SGD400+ INCLUSIVE shipping. Got it from amazon, and amazon gets it new and direct from DW. I went to Ranking and was horrified to see the PDP Ace 14 x 5 at $580ish, What a scam! The only things I get from ranking are their Promark sticks and dunlop/mxr pedals. Try search online, I know its a pain to when a lot of the items are unable to be shipped worldwide but I didn't give up and finally found one from Amazon! or if you prefer, go to the singapore ebay website- only items that can be shipped to singapore will be displayed, and its all in SGD. Good luck with your drum purchases!

Thx buddy! I guess the price u paid also inclusive of the 7% Gst u had to pay?

I did consider online purchase but I guess when it comes to certain stuff, I prefer trying them out before buying.

Yeah thats the total amount charged to my card, $400+
Hmm yeah thats the bad thing about online shopping, cannot try... For me I read all the reviews I can find on the internet, and from the DW youtube channel, where Brain demo-ed the new pdp snares (although not mic-ed properly) but yeah. But the 6.5" Ace like quite nice leh the sound. Just change the snare wires to some Puresound ones can already.
If the models available at the shop, just try at the shop then go home buy online!
Hope it helps!

I was at ranking again last weekend, and I recall seeing the PDP kit i mentioned as a M5 or MX kit (correct me if there's no such model). But i dont remember seeing it as cheap as what was mentioned at 1.4k.. it goes at about sgd 2k....

This $1.4k maple pdp kit is at music theme, not ranking, haha.

anyway i went to music theme last weekend, and the 1.4k bucks kit is the FX series. different models....

Both business get their supplies from excel sports and music, but they are not chain stores under the same people, shop A might sell somethign similar than Shop B at times :)
Cheers :)

i think there's a misunderstanding somewhere. i know the "relationship" between music theme and ranking.

my point was a presence of such a huge price difference for the same kit model (in this case, pdp m5), regardless of place. I've already found the answer to that (that the ones we were looking at are different kit models), so lets make this case close shall we?

cheers!
