Hi guys as u can see i'm a newbie...just got pay so can get a new axe finally!!! need some advice got about 1.5k to burn..got a fender strat already and i'm looking for a super thin and fast action neck guitar..more towards rock metal and blues style..ibanez and jackson come to mind but think i might lean more towards ibanez..so i'm thinking what to get...any recommendations? prestige range? pros and cons? thinking of getting either a jem jr or a higher end pgm model..pro and cons again? thanks guys..

Ibanez RG550EX, what im using now. Its quite a versatile guit ah.. I play blues, old school metal, and a little of rock. Not a bad guitar. ^^ And the extra finish on the guitar, hehe so nice.

ok...how much about...actually thinking of prestige model if wanna get rg..but prestige in sweelee damn ex....yr end got 40% off right.??? can't wait...guitarist's dream come true!! ahah

if u are a newbie i dont think you should spend so much on gear now, especially since u have a fender and not some cheapo guitar. I would suggest an amp upgrade first and save the money till u can get a real solid guitar, something that you would be happy with for a long time.

the jem jr is made in korea but i would get a prestiege which is made in japan

oh i gotta a combo which i'm pretty happy with...not planning on a valve amp anytime soon..way too loud...i run a gt2 thru it so i get some pretty good tones..just wanna get a new guitar which i can run my fingers fast thru...are the pgm models made in japan too...? they felt quite good the last time i felt the neck...

i suggest u go for de ibanez. especially if u like de feel of de guitar. its a gd guitar n will last u a long time. neck feel is slick but i hate floyd rose bridges but once u get it in tune it will be a fantastic guitar to play. pickups arent really to die for but has standard. my 2 cents worth. if u earned de money, why not enjoy it? :D

1.5K budget..hmm..get two guitar then..juz a suggestion..u can get one fixed bridge, set-in neck guitar & a floyd rose type guitar with that kind of budget..so u'll have a variety of collection..i recommend u Ibanez SZ320..for about $700 its realli worth the buy..u can get good tone for rock metal or blues out of this thing..then u have about $800 left for another guitar of ur choice..isn't it great?

I agree with Pentatonic. If you are a new guitarist, you want to concentrate on a good basic sound quality from a reliable guitar that stays in tune. Therefore STAY AWAY from fancy Floyd Rose etc. tremelo systems, unless you want to spend all day as a mechanic.
Ibanez, top end Epiphone and second hand USA Telecasters should be around your price range for a good deal

WHAT?!! STAY AWAY FROM FLOYD ROSE?!!! what kind of advice....

Don't be such a boring guitarist..we guitarist should try everything..
aniwei its not that hard after u get used to maintain and care for your floyd rose bridge..it wont take u all day like someone said earlier..not even half an hour..

all we need is to practise..dont juz practise to play..practise to maintain and care for ur guitar..

we should learn how to maintain our guitar b4 buying our expensive dream guitar..not only the external parts..be aufait with the internal parts as well..i love my baby and i rather maintain it myself than....................

i agree with canon... that should stay away from anything too complicated... a floyd rose tremolo although very stable etc...etc... is considered a hassle to me. and ibanez wizard II necks are in my opnion a way of making sure ALL ibanez users will only stick to ibanez... because all other necks are thicker and therefore playbility is affected. Or you will need to get a pretty high end ibanez to really get quality hardware and build.

get a nice strat or tele. you can do anything on them.
clean or dist.

I agree with canon also. If you're a beginner, you should concentrate more in sounding better and the chances of you getting to use a floyd rose is very little. Not every song has dive bombs or those cool tremolo effects.

The problem with floyd rose system is that, it's difficult for you to restring it. You must string it in a correct way in order for it to stay in tune. If not every dive bomb you make, your guitar goes out of tune.
