Where to see local original bands?

When I see there are 200+ local bands listed on sixtyfive.sg and around 10 venues it makes me wonder... where is everyone gigging?

I've only been in Singapore for 2 years, but I am having a hard time finding anywhere to go and listen to up and coming original music.
I don't care what the style is, I just want to know where is the local scene where new and creative things are happening? I have seen a lot of good musicians in bars and clubs all over, but it's mostly just background noise and almost 100% cover songs.

So, original bands, where do you gig on a regular basis?
Fans and supporters of the local scene, where do you go to catch shows?

Usually by following up though friends/band members.
you can check for gigs happening here locally(in the link below).
About whether its originals or covers, do ask the threadstarter about it
Often gig organizers/bands will put up a thread+poster about the gig happening over the weekend or so.
Alternatively try looking out for band's myspace profile for any upcoming events/gigs.

Original Local Bands

Hi tincircus,

You can check out local bands on their myspace for updates on their gigs,venue and timings etc...If you feel like going for a gig of original music this weekend,you can head down to Playden @ The Artshouse,Old Parliement Road at 7pm.It's a showcase of original songs of different genres.It's free!You can add us up on myspace or facebook.We'll be performing for the gig too.
