Where to get replacement studs for Ibanez lo-pro trems?

Hi,

i am attempting to file and sharpen my ibanez lo-pro 7 trem's knife edge after reading this guide
http://www.ibanezrules.com/tech/setup/sharpening.htm

any softie has done this before and has any tips to share?

From the guide it is recommended that new stud posts are used and a lube should be applied at the knife edge. I believe graphite lube would be the best choice in this case? Any brands of graphite lubes to recommend and is there any guitar shop in singapore that sells replacement stud posts for the lo-pro trem?

Thanks for the help!

The best place to get the studs is from Rich himself. Only thing is the shipping would kill you.

I've been using Ibanez Lo-Pros for the longest time and I've never used any special form of lube (unless you consider WD40 lube). The wearing of knife edge is due to wear and tear, doesn't matter how much lube you put on it IMO.

Btw, why do you want to replace the trem studs?

hi bro,

my guitar kinda goes out of tune quite abit recently, and from e link i posted it seems like sharpening the trem knife and replacing new trem studs would help the trem stay in tune better after whammying abuse.

my guitar is quite old and the trem looks kinda worn out, with e knife edge looking like it has undergone quite abit of wear and tear.

so this trem stud can be ordered online from rich? hahah i was hoping i could purchase them locally so that i can cut the waiting time. thanks for e help!
!

I don't think can get locally only because the stud is only used for Ibanez guitars equipped with either the Edge or Lo-pro cos those studs actually have fine screws in them.

Question. how long have you owned your guitar for? has it always been going out of tune very badly? I highly suspect its the set up and not so much on the knife edge cos I whack all my Ibanez guitars quite bad but they are still in good shape even after donkey years of abuse.

If you dont mind, could you take pictures for us to see the wear? Best if I could see the guitar in person though.

Just curious, what model btw? 7620? K7? UV?

Its a rg7420. I suspect that neither the stud/knife or the setup that is the issue, there is a crack created by the trem stud on the guitar body wood itself. That really sucks man. Hahah i have contacted a luthier and i think the only way to resolve this problem is to send it for a professional repair. Thanks for the help anyway bro

RG7420 is using the LO-TRS7 if I'm not wrong. I'm not sure if it's using the same trem studs as the lo-pro.

The right approach is to pull out the existing trem studs, drill slightly bigger holes, fill up with solid wood (something more rigid like Mahogany), drill new holes to fit the trem studs in (make sure the alignment is right). Basswood is a very soft wood and such things happen. Not uncommon.

Yeah i really can see that basswood is a very soft wood :C i dont know if i am right but i think the trem stud post are also depressed into the wood deeper than it should be. If the wood fill is done would it be ok if like locking gotoh studs are installed in place of the old lo pro studs in stead?
