For guitar I suggest Samick Artist series made in korea guitar, it's very hard to find but if you can find your lucky usually 2nd hand , it's hard to get 1st hand. For lead guitar hmm yamaha at plaza singapura should be good. The teacher is Rosli mansor. But is best if you ask him to teach u private. but you really have to practice very hard

there are plenty of affordable guitars these day, you just have to take time & try out which ones appeal to you. i'd suggest you give SMASH's S2 a go:

I'm also a newbie..for 1st had guitars,I would recommend the SX stratocaster copy..If you are on a low budget..I would recommend a 2nd hand guitar..Cash Converter has some guitars that are in so-so condition..btw in Cash Conveter at Admiralty I saw a Samick guitar
and its condition is 8/10 and the price is around $130..

Since you are 'on' about signing up for classes, I think you should get a proper guitar; and not some cheap to hell ones just because you're a newbie.

I'm sorry to say this but TRY not to buy guitars from Cash Converters just because you are broke or a newbie. Honestly, buying guitars from them not really a good idea. I know it's nothing wrong but why buy from them when you are so 'on' about taking courses and learning the guitar right??

I believe every newbie needs a proper gear to start off with. :D

Recommendations? I think there's hell a lot of 'Recommendations for beginners guitar' threads. :D

My sister had lessons at Plaza Singapura Yamaha Contempo Music School and her teacher was Rosli Mansor as well. And private isn't worth. Cos normal lessons have only like 6-9 people in it only, according to my sis.

And if you don't know Rosli Mansor, he's a "quite" famous Guitarist in Singapore who've made an instrumental album about a year ago or two. My sis has it and its signed by him. =D Even a T-Shirt and badges.

well just by looking at rosli's students those that are really famous in singapore are his private students. Well just an observation. The very famous Addy rasidi and simon lai.
hmm rosli had badges? hmm I didn't know. I know of someone by the name of shu xian ( don't quite know the spelling) who's rosli's student in yamaha. happen to be your sis?

Uh no, she's Malay and she took classes about a year ago, or two years ago. Had classes only for a year cos my dad was not happy with the Contempo for not compensating a day for a day that the class has been cancelled. So, he's saying he's paying for a cancelled class. And not only an "a" . This class-cancelling occured quite a number of times.

Oh, lol, my sis, after the lessons, she turned to acoustic and didn't learn techniques so that is why I asked those dumb questions.

And about the sister thing, I'm just telling my sis was having lessons with Rosli Mansor.
