where to buy CIJ Fender Jazz bass?

for MIA Deluxe active (pre-2010 model) , I saw a white one in Swee Lee, but its about $4,800 before discount, $2400 if theres a sale
But for MIJ basses, you can try ordering from Ishibashi U-box, an all used 2nd hand guitars catalog owned by Ishibashi Music in Tokyo, Japan, I got my 62 RI Jazz bass and 69 RI Mustang guitar from there,
Apparently Fender Japan doesn't sell brand new guitars and basses to international customers, so you're going to have to try finding a used one that looks near mint and unplayed, here's the link

Click on the 'Fender' tab on the top left hand corner of the page, or type in 'JB62' in the search bar. When you see something you like, click on that picture and email them directly (intl@ishibashi.co.jp) and quote the enquiry number located on top of the 1st picture of the guitar, and they will get back to you within a few hours or the next day,
You can ask them anything about the guitar, like the serial number, cosmetic condition, type of pickups, neck & fretboard condition, and it will always comes with an Original Fender soft case or sometimes the case it came with when the previous owner sold it there.
Look for the JB62-US jazz bass, it already has US-Made vintage pickups on them
Mine is the JB62-DMC/VSP, with Dimarzio pickups and Vintage style tuners

Yes, the shipping charge by Express Service Mail will be 10,000 JPY, and will arrive at your doorstep in about 3-5 days. If it comes with its original hard case, it will be 12,000 JPY charge instead. But one thing you need to know is, they would process your order if it is above 50,000JPY,
Here's how you calculate the approximate total cost
((Cost of items in JPY +10,000 JPY) x 0.015 ) x 1.07 = Total Cost in SGD
You won't get hit by the 5% Japanese tax but you need to pay the delivery man, the 7% S'pore GST when it gets delivered to your house
They will also give you a tracking number of the package containing your bass, that you can key in in the Japan Post website
so you don't need to worry about its location. If it gets lost somehow, Ishibashi will make sure you get a refund or make an exchange.
You can still buy a Jazz Bass priced at under 50,000 JPY but you need to buy a bit more stuff like pedals and etc from there to make it 50,000. They have a lot of nice accessories you might be interested in
Sometimes they rate the cosmetic condition at A+,A, B+, B, C and C+
A+: Like new and unplayed
A :Near mint and perfect and condition
B+ : Theres is a few scratches and small dents
B : Quite a lot of scratches, chips and dents
C : Not very good cosmetic condition but can still play
C+ : Junk condition, needs repair to work before it can play

But you can buy brand new Fender USA from them, They have some expensive custom shop and master builder series and also some American Standard Jazz Basses and the new American Deluxe active, all come in hard cases, so the shipping cost will be 12,000JPY instead of 10,000JPY, not a really big difference

If lets say the bass comes only with a gig bag do you think it is safe to just go with the express shipping?
they still do ship intenationally from that site ?
i thought need to buy from their ebay store now, which the price is no longer attractive

They still ship internationally but they won't ship brand new Fender Japan, I think it's more faster to deal from the U-box than on the E-bay and you get an early reply from the sales agent

I think i saw that red JB62US too, Good choice for your bass and color, US pickups too. I recommend you ask the agent about the cosmetic condition first, if it really matters to you, because I think this one had a very noticeable dent or chip at the back of it in one of the pics,
but I did found an olympic white American Deluxe Jazz bass that's been sitting there for a while, you should check it out, the the price is displayed as 118,000JPY but it's actually 5% less for us, since we don't get the Japanese tax.
Type in AM DX JB in the search bar, see if you like it.
I did find it annoying that the Yen was getting strong when I was buying my MIJ Fender Mustang, but I really wanted it so badly, so I had no choice.

i saw that bass too,the dent at the back seems pretty deep and there's cracks around the dent. such a waste!

The downside in Fender Japan i think would be the paint finish, it chips easily when it gets dented, I noticed one tiny dent that was going to chip any moment on my Jazz Bass when I got it,
What I did was I seal it up with a bit of Nitro-cellulose nail polish hardener I bought for $3, and it looked much better and worked in seconds also, but I don't know how it looks for bigger dents.
You can try to choose the sunburst color if you can't find other red ones, Sunburst is more available in good condition too and very easy to spot if it has scratches or dents
My mustang is the 1969 Reissue series in Candy red and matching color headstock, no stripes on it, the 1973 reissue has stripes but no matching headstock.
The sound was quite ok when I got it but the strings were already rusting, I changed it last week, to light gauge Fender Bullet strings, now it sounds more like an American fender and sounds like grunge with distortion, and the pickups are just normal single coils, made in Japan
