Yeap...I need a place where got sell cheap electric guitar...apart from the classified ads...anywhere in Singapore??eg,Davis Guitar,Ranking,Musicm theme and so forth...Budget arn $150...I know its ridiculous but I'm on a very very very tight budget so do me recommend me some place...anyway does anyone heard about the music shop at Compang??or Yishun area??I heard there got one music shop sells very cheap guitar but didn't know where the shop is located...If anyones knows the shop,do let me know...thx and have a good day folks... :)

I have got no idea what the shop name is but you can get there on buses 980, 167, 171 and some other busses i'm not sure sorry

I think classifieds is where the best deals are. you can try your luck at 2nd hand stores like Guitar Connection and G77.

what about your amp, cables tuner etc?

ookk thanks...I have all that but I want to try another type of guitar...I tried asking SOFTers for trading of my guitar but none interested in it...so I thought of lloking around S'pore for the cheapest electric guitar...

the shop is locate opposite Chong Pang Camp on Sembawang Road (ref link). Blk 106, you cant miss it cos they display their gtrs out in the open.

I've visited the shop a couple of times. Last abt a month ago. They are cheap but the quality of the instruments are NOT OKAY (most gtrs have uneven frets, warped neck, poor workmanship, exposed to the elements,... etc).

Caution: unknowing noobs & accompanying parents will get a raw deal if they are not familiar with guitars (one unknowing parent got just that ).

They have stocked up recently and I've not visited since.
If you do go down, do let us know your thoughts please.

check out the classified ads. There are a few... no.. quite a lot of cheap deals. sub is selling his aria for $140!! xD

K2desoog:Yeah sure....I'll visit it one day..anyway what guitar they sell??and how cheap is cheap??

lokiregnarok:Errrmm its okk...

if you want dirt cheap, try your luck at sungei road. you might get lucky.

however, I still believe you get what you pay for. even if you manage to get a guitar at $10, you have to consider the condition of it. who knows how bad the neck shape is, how uneven the frets are or whether the electronics are working. end of the day to get it repaired might cost you $100+ bucks and you think to yourself, was it all worth it in the first place?

hey fadzz
maybe you can let us know the purpose of getting a 2nd gtr. Some things to consider.

If its...
-to experiment on (like frankenstein it), getting a real cheapo is ideal or 2nd hand is ideal
-to have it for a hobby only, mid-priced axes will keep you smiling (for the budget conscious too)
-to burn it ( a la hendrix) and have it artistically displayed, the Sungei Road option is best
-to have it for keeps or as an investment, a quality brand is one you should look for.

just my thoughts

I want to try on a project guitar...I'm trying to install the pickup on my own...in a simple way, create my own custom guitar...

Maybe try cash converters? Not that cheap, but you never know. There are also quite a few models available at SV and Davis which are just above 100 bucks. I think that is about as cheap as one can get for a solid body guitar.

Happy hunting!
