Where did YOU learn theory from?

Hahaha... I like what guitar_phreak says,

"1) Figure out yourself
2) Ask people
3) Learn other instruments (piano is good)
4) Buy books
5) Practice practice practice"

That's pretty much how I learn as well.

I also buy guitar instructional DVDs sometimes on the topic I am interested to take a deeper study, e.g. speed soloing, jazz, etc.

You might want to check out the following websites as well:

Hope this helps.

Alternatively, you can also contact me directly to ask me about music theory.

Learnt the most basic chords and stuff in secondary school from Alex Abisheganaden, that was waaaaaay back in the 80s! Then took up electric guitar which I learnt how to play from Francis of Guitar Workshop. Back then, they were still located at Ming Arcade basement 1. Haha! Those were the good 'ol days!

never learnt theory. im self taught so i know nuts about theory. i just learn by watching others play

Learnt it the hard way; people kept asking "what chords" and i had to figure it out by myself or get laughed at.
Other theoretical terms gotten from playing with other musicians, and the terms and stuff sorta caught on. xD

And a lot of curiosity of course.
