okay, so what do u guys think of telecasters.
just curious,

1)what kind of tone does it give?
eg. issit like stratocasters?

2)does it have a wide range of sounds?

etc. and those telecaster owners. can kindly give your reviews?

thanks, maybe the moderator can put this thread on the guitar's sticky thread.

khai_stereotype, what's your take on the questions?

i think it is good for the thread starter to give their input first.

ah, the tele...

many would see it as a reserved instrument for a particular twangy genre but there are proponents out there who have proven that the guitar is capable of delivering extreme music. its sheer versatility is subject to specifications of course. black metal anyone?

Tom Morello (RATM/ Audioslave)plays it , Jonny Greenwood(Radiohead) plays it, Joe Strummer(The Clash) plays it, John5 (Shredding extrodinare)plays it, Keith Richards (Rollling Stones) plays it, Jimmy Page(Led Zeppelin) plays it for the solo of Stairway to Heaven So u see, it encompasses a wide variety of style. :)

but isnt that the case for ANY guitar? :p

anyway, yup, subversion is right.

Say, if you buy a standard unmodded fender tele, out of the box, its more suited for twangy, low/mid gain kinda music, like country for example. Tho if you're a humbucker guy, there's other models which offer the H/H configuration.

Tele has that certain vibe going on, that's if we are talking about stock teles. Imho, the old school players like EVH, YJM and Blackmore for eg. would be able to wield the Tele with prowess. Why? Extensive use of the vol & tone knobs! It's pretty sad that to the younger generation nowadays, perception of this wonderful guitar is being relegated to country/blues genre.

A strat/tele is a must have in any players' collection, views anyone?

MadWere: It sounds like bridge position to me though

Hmm

I prefer the Tele with H-H config  More rockish & chunkier.

I wonder what if the setup the Tele with a H-S-H?

Apparently Jimmy Page used a tele on the first 2 Led Zep albums, not just on the stairway to heaven solo.

Hahaha.. .I'm anti fender. :) Can't stand so many things about them!

Would you mind elaborating ?
coz ... might wanna get a Fender strat or tele.
would really like to hear ur views ...
got pros and cons ... makes it easier to decide

Erm. My views are purely personal... and a lot to do with their shape/size plus tone.

Thick necks, floyd-less, hate single coil bridge pups, hate the traditional look, hate the headstock, hate hate hate the neck joint....

Tone wise... erm... I don't particularly like the twang... or the snap...

As you can see, all my views can be easily thrashed lah, but well, its just.. me bias lah.
