What's the difference for playing Piano And Keyboard?.Please help me out.TY!

Hi,I want to know what is the difference between playing piano and Keyboard.
And how is the set-up suppose to be for keyboardist playing for a band?.eg for a hip-hop/soul music

1) Do they have to play solo or melody or just chords?
2) Is it just piano sound or can they play with other voices?.

I would really appreciate your help for the knowledge gained!
