What's a BAD local song?

ah ..

hmmz dunno , there isnt really such a thing as a bad song. its when u gradually improve and you look back at your earlier songs , yould realise how much they lack in technicality , both sound and musicianship wise and depth in terms of experience and sound.

simply put. its the same thing as when you look back 20 years ago at you in your old hairdo and compare to that of yourself in the mirror.

a bad song... hmm... i dun think it is for us to think about it, but it is suppose to let the writer or composer to think about it, whether is he/she portraying the things he/she going to portray and how much effort he/she him/herself has put in it. it may sound nice to us, but it may be the worst song ever for the writer itself.

hm ok to be really forthcoming, there's only one local band that i can think of that i've totally cringed at when listening to their originals and it's Skive. i'll have to look up the name of the particular song though because i can't remember the name.

it's nothing against the band; as far as i can tell, the band is really committed and takes their stuff seriously, which is awesome. but the song that i have was recorded with their singer (maybe ex singer now because they were looking for a new singer last time i heard) who sounded kinda like....really nasal and to be completely honest, i thought the song in its entierty was awful.

:(

but they write music that they believe in, and they work hard. and maybe that's all that should really matter. this is a tough thread to answer honestly because it ends up sounding like you're talking smack.

very true.
and otherwise, no matter how good a music is... there's always a group of people who will criticize it

Articulation

Musically, maybe some local bands got superb talent.
Arrangement wise, I've heard some nice arrangements before ( beautiful intro, or guitar solo, etc )
Lyrics, yea, there are some powerful lyrics around.

But one thing that really irritates me is articulation.
Man, c'mon, if u really wanna go far, sing properly la!
You can hear the bad articulation in some bands, and that really goes to show how much effort they bother to put into vocals.

I've heard whinning, cock crowing, yelling etc.

Nothing much to complain, but some local bands need to work on proper articulation. No need to some Ang Mo, just pronounce properly.
