What Kind Of Pedal Set Up

Hi,

I'm just wondering what's the best setup for tone, etc, with my set of pedals. Anyone got any ideas?

I'm using
BOSS Super Chorus CH1
Boss Overdrive OD2
Boss Delay DD3
Boss Tremelo TR2
Ibanez Soundtank TM5
Dunlop Cry Baby Wah
Volume Pedal

Right now it's just whatever, whereever, but for some reason, my Chorus isn't so warm and my Delay sounds a little weak, is that becos of placement? (my last set up, I put everything in before the OD2 and TM5 - then into the volume pedal).

Also, I'm thnking of adding a phaser to this setup. Is this a good idea?

Anyone can help?

Usual setup is
1. Volume
2. Wah
3. Distortions
4. Chorus or wadever pedals
5. Delay, last pedal

However, you might wanna experiment around because the position of the pedals, whichever comes first, do affect your sound. Eg. Compressor before and compressor after distortion gives different sounds.

Tweaking of EQs is an essential part for a great tone. Sit down with your pedals & take your time to tweak. You've got the basic pedals there. You would also wana take note of the placement of the pedals.

Arrange them by their colour. Put your darkest coloured pedal first in the chain and the lightest coloured one last.

Believe it or not, I actually tried the colour thingy! And also alphabetically (CH1 first and TR2 last). Not quite what I expected! haha!

You can try gtr -> vol pedal, wah, od2, tm5, ch1, tr2, dd3 -> amp

Re: WHAT KIND OF PEDAL SET UP

Guitar -> OD2 -> DD3 -> CH1 -> Amp

The rest I don't know since I've never used them. You probably want to put your less used modulation pedals into a loop.

For reference, my settings for DD3 and CH1 if you can't get the warm sound:

CH1: 10oclock 2oclock 2oclock 2oclock
DD3: Set everything to 12oclock, then tune accordingly to your tastes.

CH1 is always on when DD3 is on.

Volume pedal should be placed depending on how you use it - to reduce gain, or to reduce overall volume.

For the rest of the pedals, put it in one by one, at whatever position, use your ears to listen.

hmmm.... for me, i use vol pedal for vol swells with my DD20 only. did try to use vol to reduce vol. loses the tone i want. basically not for me.

Cool, I gotta try those settings. What happened was that when I switch the TR2 on to get the "Leslie" effect, the warm Chorus sounds just drop, that's why.

Also, I think the OD cancels out some warmth as well, cannot get that "gurgly" overdriven sound like on The Beatles 'While My Guitar Gently Weeps' (the Clapton bits, not Harrison's rhythm guitar)
