i guess stuff like The Who, Led Zep, DP, AC/DC, Scorpions, Pink Floyd all could count as classic rock.

Classic (or Vintage) rock would cover most of the rocks songs from the late 60s to about the mid 70s performed by the early rock bands lile Led Zep, Deep Purple, Free, Black Sabbath, Grand Funk Railroad, Three Dog Night, Rare Earth, AC/DC, Kiss, Rolling Stones, etc

When a band today plays Classic Rock, it can mean that its plays rock music from that era or that it's style is similar to that genre, ala Jet.
