what is arrow on the note pointing up (guitar tab)

EHhhh.... On some tabs ar... theres like this arrow on the note pointing up with a word "full" on it. When there is THAT note with the arrow, the note sound will be high pitched. Do i have to buy a effect padal to make this note???

um i think you just have to bend it one tone up? it's called a full-tone bend,.

and sirbestwong, usually they bend up on the first three strings (g b e) and bend down for the bottom three strings (e a d)
