What do I need to organize a gig?

Hello there fellow SOFTies. I hope at least some of you can help me out here cause I'm really at a lost here.

To bring you up to speed, my band is going to have an EP launch. So far we've dropped e-mails to several venues and studios for rental of equipments like amps and sound systems. My question is, is there anything we're missing out? Do I need to get a permit for organizing a music event and if I do, how do I get that done? Any gig organizers able to shed some light on this matter would be highly appreciated. It'd be even better if someone could come in and help us organize the whole shin-dig cause honestly speaking, we haven't a clue if we're doing this right. Do hope to get some replies. Many thanks in advanced

Thanks for the link. I'm not sure what you're trying to say, but if you're saying that I should take initiative, then I should let you know that I am. I've been sending out e-mails to venues and places that offer rental of equipments. Some haven't been helpful, some haven't even got back to me on my enquiry. Though I am getting somewhere with this although it is a slow progress. My reason for posting this is so that I can get better help from people with experience in organizing gigs. Plus, I have to get all the logistic stuff settled asap because we're trying to get the gig happen in late July. So really, I just need to know what I need, and what I need as a backup plan in case anything falls through. Hope you understand

1. Find Venue that can be rented for a period of time
2. Rent Equipment for that day and time (unless the venue has equipment)
3. Get bands to play.
4. Have the gig.

Don't email. Call or show up in person, it lets people doing business know that you are at least somewhat committed

Yes, I am aware that I need those stuff. But like I mentioned in my very first post, are there any permits that I need to get? Or do I just carry on everything else while minding my own business?
