BOTH have long neck tenons, 1-piece bodies and nickel hardware.
BOTH also play differently.
I'm not sure about the SG, but for Les Pauls, I'm pretty certain that only the Custom Shop models i.e. VOS(prev known as Historic) have the long tenon neck joint. For more info on the joint, check this out:
YouTube - Gibson Neck Tenons
but the VOS is just too expensive, and not many like burstbucker pickups.
so the reissue is the way to go.
Again, I'm not clear about the naming convention in the context of SGs, but for Les Pauls, there are no Reissues that are not Historic or VOS, as far as I know. All Reissues come from the Custom Shop, and have the long tenon neck joint, CTS pots, Burstbucker pickups(some years had different pups, for e.g. '01 R7 has 57 Classics), Bumblebee caps.
Anything else (Standard, Classic, Traditional, Premium Plus) is not termed a "Reissue" and is from Gibson USA and not the Custom Shop.
Oh, and if you think VOS Les Pauls are too ex, check out the link in my siggy. Price is not that far off from an LP std price, and is neg some more!
PS: Everdying, did you pull the info u posted from somewhere else on the web? Looks pretty familiar...the structure and all.
