WHAT ARE COLOR TONES? Palinaw naman po mga sirs:)

Hello mga sir,

Gusto ko lang malinawan kung ano ba ang color tones? say you have E major as your chord/scale/note ano ang mga color tones nya?

Is there such a thing? I know you're not supposed to be limited in being creative saka make your "Ear" the judge of your tone or music. Pero surely meron sigurong "guide" or "rules" that would govern this concept and can certainly be bent a bit kasi if played too much would sound horrible and if played too strict would sound robotic.

So help naman sa paglinaw the best way you can - salamat in advance!!!

I have never heard of this term before.. merong tone colors.. refering to the characteristics of certain notes or tones.. meron din chord tones refering to the notes or tones in a particular chord..

baka.. color tones are notes or tones that adds color to an existing chord.. lets say E chord may sariling tunog na sya.. If we play E7.. suddenly nagbago yung characteristic ng tunog.. its because we added the D note to E which made it E7.. we can say that D or b7 note is the color tone... baka ganon

Back in "Hippie Era" nung tumitira pa sila ng LSD eh nakkita nila ang mga tone na me mga magagarang kulay, baka eto yung color tones na gusto mong malaman!!!

yup.. after some research..

color tones are tones or notes added to an existing triad or chord.. that add colors thats it.

ex. Amaj7 if you add 9th which is a B note or 11th, which is a D note, or 13th which is an F# note , all above the existing notes of the maj7 chord... 9th, 11, and 13 are color tones

I agree with obetski...Color tones can be called "Tensions"as well...
