Hi softies,

i was thinking of getting a 30watt amp for home use.
Saw a few models that im interested in. The Orange Crush 30R,Vox Advt30.
Any other amps to recommend?
Would probably just need an amp with clean and overdrive channel.
The rest of the effects, ill probably be investing in a multi-efx.
Oh since im at it,any multi efx to recommend also.
Boss Me-50 Korg ax3000g?

thanks for viewing.

Hmm, whats your budget?
I'll add on to the list with the roland cube 30 and peavy vypyr 30. However, if you have a larger budet, you can go for a tube amp like the blackstar ht-5 or the egnater rebel 20.

For efx, I've only used the line6 POD XT. Great little device, can get almost any tone out of it. Now's there's a POD x3, a newer model with more features. There's also the line6 m9 & m13 if you are purely interested in efx only.

nah i think the blackstar is way out of my budget.
tube amps are good.but i dont have the money for retubing every 4 years or so.
budget shld be bout 300 to 400.

get the roland cube, cant go wrong with that

or maybe the vox ac4

as for multi fx, i prefer the pods then the me50.
the me50 is awfully digital

why 30watts? and what is ur current amp? we dont wanna recommend something sounds similar to what u already have?

i'd recommend the ac4tv by vox. 4watts tube amp. it's definitely loud enough for me. even my 15w i barely turn it quarter up.

Personally, I feel that if I'm going to nail my tone with a multi effects unit, the cab size of a combo amp is more important than the power rating of the amp. Don't aim for 30 watts and restrict yourself. Search for 1 × 12" combos instead with cleans that are not too coloured.

1 × 12" combos around the range of 30 watts are not common though, but Subversion did a review on one unit recently called the Randall Ninja Combo:

The price point of this particular 12" combo is quite unbeatable

+1 to madwerewoflboy. Heard the randall in person at davis, the randall definitely has the capacity to do sparkling cleans to all-out high gain mayhem.

Personally, i'm using a Roland Cube 30x, and i've got no complaints. Solid clean, and very distinct amp modelling modes for distortion. Really works for me when i'm noodling around with blues, or working on rock and roll and hard rock.

But if i had a second choice, I might have gone for an amp with real tubes, to get that sound... unfortunately those seem to be rather out of my price range. :( I'm very favourable to Vox and their AC30, but the prices are disgusting. Maybe an AC4tv for me in the future, or a Laney Cub 8.

The vox ad30vt actually uses a tube in it, but i'm not so sure how much it affects the tone. My vote's for that, but you should go down give it a try.

reason for wanting a 30watt is i dont want it to be too loud for my room.
but yeah i wanna get a 1x12 at least, but the price of it is man.
out of my budget gotta save i guess.
and a 1x12 30watt is hard to find.its mostly at least 50watt.
the randall amp seems great for its price.probably gonna go down to try it out.

Hmm im looking for a multi effect that has good distortion(probably sound similar to a DS-1),good chorus, reverb. The rest of the effects dont have to be that great.

im using a cube 15x btw.this amp provides awesome clean tone.
but the other channels don't sound good to me now.
so probably wanna get a amp with probably a clean channel and a overdrive channel.
and i can rely the effects on my multi-efx unit.

There is such a thing as the THD hotplate which allows you to get maximum tone with minimum volume on higher wattage amps.

I dont really see the point in getting another Solid State amp, maybe for more bells and whistles, yes, but your just getting an amp with double the voltage.

Your current amp is rather decent, less digital compared to the line6 spider series. Anyway, since you dont like the multiple channels, I feel that you are picky with tone like me. :p

I'm currently running a PODXT through simple Creative speakers. Maybe you can try that out?

Anyways, you might wanna try the Ibanez Valbee, pretty good distortion for its price and size. There's an amp review here on soft by subversion if i'm not wrong. Too lazy check. :D

Hey guys! Sorry to hijack TS.

Was wondering if anyone knows if city music still has the ac4tv in stock? And what's the difference with the combo and just the one by itself? I am looking for a tube amp although i don't really know how much it will help. The only thing i am sure of is that I am sick of my Roland cube.

To TS: Not going to consider buying stomp boxes? :)

Why not put to consideration the Vox multi-effects that are available at city music. They look good and reasonably priced.

haha i got like a md-2 and had a de-7,but its like expensive to own pedals.
and i dont have a pedal board, lazy to go get one

i want to experiment the sounds.so i think getting a multi-efx is a good choice for me.

hmm tube amps seems tempting.just that price turns me off.
still a student now.don't earn much heehee.
