Selling a Vintage Gibson Chainsaw/Protector Case to free up some space. It's a first generation with 3 plastic latches. It's the slimmer type, compared to the 2nd generation w/ metal latches.
I bought it from a friend who brought home an R7 with it from the states. Its one of the sturdiest cases Gibson had built. They produce these in the 70's-80's. Very thick padding with red velvet lining.
I use it to store my R9, and occasionally use it for my then PRS Tremonti II and Gibson Classic Premium plus. It's a heavy duty case ideal for traveling and storing as well.
Disclaimer:
It fits SG, LP Junior and PRS Singlecuts, perhaps any guitar w/ single cut away body w/ a not so much carved top. Strats, RG bodies cannot fit, Tele, I haven't tried at all.
As for Les Pauls, it does not close fully. As I mentioned I used it w/ 3 of my guitars before and I never encountered any problems, even when it does not close fully. I plush the guitar in and snug fit inside. PLease see photo 1.

Known issues:
1. It's basically an old case, with scuffs and marks, but still a solid one for its age.
2. It got plastic latches which dates it as 1st generation (or others refer to it as 2nd generation w/ 3 latches).
3. 2 of the latches are broken, so I installed a gold latch w/ lock option for safe keeping (see photo 1), even 1 plastic latch can secure the guitar.
4. It opens up wide, maybe 140degrees, compared to normal ones with 90-100 degrees (see photo 2).
5. the handle's foam/coating is worn out/coming off, but does not affect in carrying the case (see photo 3).
6. Fitting Les Pauls aren't we, please read the above disclaimer again.
