just wondering.. if we use the wrong polish to polish the fretboard and those white marks starts to come up or something.. would it affect the sound eventually?

White marks? U mean the fret position markers? If so, those should not come off, they are inlayed into the fingerboard. Also, if you're using a rosewood or ebony board, you shouldn't be using polish at all.

Correction. Don't know if I'm correct here, but I believe that Maple fretboards should not be polished.

Jim Dunlop sells a fretboard polish for ebony and rosewood fretboards.

no not the thing.. is the wood itself.. like u use wrong polsih on the wood the wood will spoilt or wad

Actually, the finish on maple fretboards is usually no different from that used on bodies and necks. You can use polishes on it. However, if what you are trying to do is remove dirt and grim, I recommend you use a piece of tissue or paper towel and lighter fluid. Then follow with very light polish.

If you try to use coarse polishes like rubbing compounds on a maple board regularly, then you might run the risk of wearing the finish out prematurely. Normal guitar polishes are fine.

If you're referring to Fast Fret, it isn't really a kinda polish. Unfinished boards like ebony & rosewood only need light oiling periodically. Excessively applications could eventually cause the wood to become "oil logged" and soften. Applies to lemon oil & fast fret as well.
