Heya everyone

Word got around that Soundmix was closed down. Yes we are closed but not put out.

We will be engaging in a lawsuit against the landlord for unlawful eviction and we are sueing for lost of business. I am not at liberty to release any information but I will tell you this. We were evicted unlawfully and without justification of any sort,in accordance with the law and property law. This is a shout out to all friends and associates. We urgently need your input here.

If anyone of you, or u know your friends who tried to book a slot with us, either for just jamming/jamming recording/ or purely recording, please leave a message in this thread or sms to 81002322 with your name, and how many hours did you intend to book with us.

I sincerely thank you all for even reading this, and i thank you even more if we win this case with your help, cos I am telling you, losing something u literally build up with ur bare hands and watchin it grow, and to lose it in a situation like this... you guys should know what i mean. It really really sucks big time.

Please, we had a good studio. And we want to biuld it up again. We have seeked legal advice and we were told to collate all business lost, including rental of any kind. And this is how my brothers and I can prove it.

Best regards
Darren

hm what do you mean by this? as in how is this supposed to helpyou guys. well soundmix was the first studio i ever jammed at and ever since it closed down my band was quite sad la cause no more cheap recording and no more long walks to the studio from the station. kinda miss the times. hope you guys come back soon!!

Soundmix was almost like home for myself and Syawla Evol.

We would go there like twice a week to jam our asses off in either of the studios and recorded the blueprint of most of the songs we perform today.
We sorely miss the studio as a lot of fond memories have taken place there.

hi darren

we've always been impressed by the high level of professionalism from yourself, sanjay and wayne. you guys have really raised the bar for studios while maintaining competitive pricings. its really my band's preferred studio.

we usually book 3 hour sessions on weekends.

you guys have my support! :)

Soundmix. Good Studio, Nice Ambience. Good Recording Facilities. Good price. Great people! Open til the wee hours in the morning. Carpark nearby, Not to mention got coffeeshop nearby too. Me and my 6-piece used to frequent whenever it was AVAILIABLE, most of the times quite hard to get slots also.

Don't quite get what you meant to list down the hours we want to book since the studio has been down quite awhile now. But there were many occassions we wanted to book since its "temporary unavailiblity"..

we hope you open soon! all the best..

Hi brother in arms,

Sorry to hear about your plight, I can't really help much, but I try to give some input.

Firstly, did you sign a tenancy agreement, and how many pages are there (2 to 15 to 20plus)?

Tenancy agreements tend to be very one sided (to landlord's favour). This is in protection to the landlord in cases of unfavourable tenants (it's his property after all). By practise this is also normally the case too.

Maybe you should sum your chances properly on deciding to pursue your legal case or not. Laywers just want make a living too, thus they will likely side your story favourably to gain your business, but in court it's the judge who decides not the lawyer. Either way, he still gets paid, win or lose.

If you are not in shortfall in rental, I guess the landlord just want to rid of you due to dissatisfaction, disagreement or problems with your occupational hazzards (namely noise). Either case, best move is to removed all property that belongs to you (equipments) if you have not already done so. Since there is ill blood, not likely you will want to stay either.

That's why in our line, we try not to leave things to chance. We reccee the place thoroughly, check with the immediate neighbours (left right up down) on any possible conflict in future. Let the landlord know exactly what the nature of your business is, and he agree to it.

My opinion is best to move on lah. Its painful, but its the most logical thing to do.

Hang tight bro.

Hi Darren,

YJ here, we used to jam at Soundmix every wkend until it's closed (all of a sudden). Willie is the guy who always make the bookings.
We really like the place, great ambience, great sound, great pple!
That was before we jam at another place.

I can understand your plight here, but I really suggest you move out and find a new place again. It's a hassle, but it's worth it, not good for your business to halt for a long time.

Anyway, we decided to open a new studio at Duxton Rd, grand opening on 3rd Dec, 5pm onwards. We welcome you to come for our opening. Not meant to be your competitor in any way. As age is catching up, we just want to continue our passion in different way.
Now that the studio is still under renovation, we already have complains because of the noise from drilling!!! Is there any renovation that is quietly carried out????? I cannot imagine next time when we hold gigs every now and then 8O

To all musicians, jammers, music-lovers, it's not easy to start up jamming/recording studios in Singapore given the highest rate of complains we have, would greatly appreciate your kindest support and understanding.

Cheers
YJ

Thanks to all Keep em coming!!

Hey guys
Thanks for the support. Its really nice to know that we still have the juice. I will try my best to reply to all enquiries.
All we need is that you verify that you did wanted to book a slot with us either for jammin and/or recording and how many hours you wanted to book. Like for rottenramone, he used to book my studios 3 hours a week so that goes into the records.
Mikemann, I understand what you mean, but the lawyer is a family friend and she said we should fight it out, cos basically the landlord is just ...with no other better word in mind... simply ridiculous. Again no specific details I can let out but its just plain nonsense from her.
YJ, i think you could be facing a possible noise complaint in the future, during the day mostly cos the offices there close pretty early and its a pub area. What was even more puzzling for my case was, while the tenant below us was doing renovations, and they complained that my studio was loud. What is this world coming to?? Contractors need silence to operate a drill? I was thinking I should be the one complaining against them But anyways......
I cant thank enough for all that posted here. Keep em coming.

Regards
Darren
