K&K pickup installation on a Gibson John Lennon:
As you may know, K&K uses 3 circular transducers to be attached to the bridge plate under the acoustic guitar top. They are famed for their natural sounding tone and supposed ease of installation. However there was a minor problem:
There was 1/4" hole on the bridge plate and exactly where the middle transducer would sit. A mirror was used to take the photo and here you'll realise I'm not a rocket scientist when it comes to photoshop.
There were few options: 1) use a strong wood filler or 2) cut out a 1/4" circle from spruce to patch it up. I chose the latter option and it turned out pretty well. It was certainly a b***h to work with as I couldn't see what I was doing inside the guitar.
Finally installed and if you notice the brass plate had to be grinded off too as to accomodate the pickup. As caution to future pickup installers, do check with a mirror before any pickup installation. This one certainly threw a few surprises.
