Uninstall Norton AntiVirus 2009

Hey all,

I am having a problem uninstalling/removing Norton AntiVirus 2009 from my computer. It was a 30-day trial software. Now that the trial has ended, I would like to remove it from my computer.

I did 2 methods of uninstallation,

1) Start > All Programs > Norton AntiVirus > Uninstall Norton Antivirus

2) Start > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs > Remove a program > Norton AntiVirus > Change/Remove

With no. 1, no pop-ups appear for the uninstallation process to take place.

With no. 2, the "Add or Remove Programs" window hangs.

I googled it out but no results. I hope someone can help me out with this problem.

To properly uninstall Norton, you must get the uninstaller program on their website.
Otherwise, with the classic "uninstall" from your computer, it won't remove the register keys, therefore causing a conflict if you try to put any other antivirus software.

same problem

I encountered the same problem. This is what i call an ugly practice. Don't forget to notify Norton home web site all the problems u currently have because of ugly lines of code forgetting to clean up the registry, or worst forcing the customer to pay because he does not know how to get rid of that.

Thats why million of people go for free and painless avg antivirus. Because we do not like that kind of practice. Enough with these microsoft-like IT sharks !
