Came across this on MSN. Not sure if it's true, since it's gossip and shouldn't be taken as fact straight away, but we should wait and see. Either way, if U2 is really retiring, it's gonna be sad because they've been icons in the industry and have had a long, successful career spanning over three decades.

So yeah, I hate to be the bringer of bad news, but just to let you know in case it really happens. At least, you've been forewarned. Thankfully, though, reunions are not going to be ruled out.

they've accomplished pretty much everything there is to accomplish; i don't see why they wouldn't want to take a siesta

Visa: Indeed.. When I pick any CD to buy, U2 is one of those few bands I don't have to worry about. They're just awesome. Would be nice if they'd make an acoustic album, though. I really liked the acoustic performances I saw on Youtube. But it's true they can't be doing this forever. Touring, recording, its gotta end sometime..

If I'm not wrong, Bono said U2 would be releasing a new album sometime next year in 2010,a companion piece to NLOTH. While NLOTH is heavy on sonic textures and exploration, the new album, called Songs of Ascent, will be a low-key affair in the vein of Springsteen's Nebraska, with a few Jazz influences. So you might get your wish yet....

And I really hope U2 don't retire just yet. I have to make it to at least one U2 live concert in my life!

Sunday Bloody Sunday is my fav U2 Song.I don't listen much of U2 but then I like their newer stuffs like Vertigo and Sometimes You Can't Make it on your own.

But Bono is going to have to "retire" from rock music soon so he can focus on his true endgame of becoming president of the universe
