Tremolo on SG?

i've nvr seen a floyd rose on a sg before. but u nvr know.. it might be possible.

there's a sg custom with a vibrola maestro tremolo.. other than that ppl fit on bigsbys.

floyd rose is possible.
but you need to rout it for a typical fender-like 2-point and not for modern day floyd rose deeper routing (i would assume common sense would account for this, which is to say most ppl dont have common sense since they say you cant put floyd rose on an SG).

even take a look at older fender strats with 2-point trems, those can also be retro-fitted with floyd roses.

below is my 80s Gibson SG, that came from the factory fitted with a floyd.

as for bigsby, you can put that on anytime.
but for me, bigsby is a pain in the ass.
i would rather re-string 10 floyd rose guitars than 1 with a bigsby.

oh wow.

that IS nice...

but removing my tune-o-matic/stoptail gonna be a pain...

but i noticed that there's a metal block below your bridge.
or is it like that by default?

but anyone know where to get it in singapore? and how much?

Its the tremolo block. As with all FR / vintage style trems the blocks are where the ends of the strings reside in and springs are attached to at the back cavity.

^^^ person who doesnt know how to read.

and just in case anyones wondering how iommi's SG is routed...

its just like mine, top routed like a typical strat.

okay.

so now i cant decide whether to get bigsby or FR....

how about in terms of price range and availability in singapore?

FR is able to get in singapore thats for sure, depending on price, arund 300+? for bigsby you'll have to order online and needs to be shipped into sg, which adds shipping cost to the equation. this answer is very rough in terms of detail, but it gets you the idea.:-D

thanks.

now i'm thinking.. for FR, won't it be unsightly if there's gonna be 2 screwholes where my stoptail used to be?

or should i cover it up like how Iommi does? cause i noticed that there's two decked-out nuts where the stoptail screws shld be....

hmm the 2 screw holes is up to your imagination. :-D usually. i'll just go nuts and ducktape them haha but Iommi's idea is good too :p;)
