Tophat Almost Loses Brian Gerhard

A recent Tophat Forum post from Brian Gerhard (TH's amp designer):

"Hello to all my friends and fans of TopHat amps! I want to thank you all for your interest and loyalty to our company. I can't thank you all enough. I have to tell you (all) news that is very difficult for me personally. I am leaving TopHat Amplification. Joan and I are moving to North Carolina and my silent financial partner that I've had for the last many years, insisted that one of us had to buyout the other. For me, it was way too much, in the midst of the move, so I've sold it to him. He'll be taking over TopHat, at its current Calif. location -- So, contact info should remain the same. They should be able to help out existing and future customers. It is not exactly clear at this point, what I'll be doing in the future. I will announce any future plans elsewhere. I wish you all the best. It's very difficult leaving what I started 10 years ago. Many of you know me and how difficult this is -- to let it go. Please, spread the word that I have left, as of April 1st, 2005. I will be press releasing this info in the next couple months, as well as any future plans. Any last issues will be cleared up in the next week. I may post a bit more on this later. But, for now it's ggodbye. I will be doing amp repair, back there, by July -- If there were something that TopHat is not resolving for you, service oriented, I will take care of it. I won't leave my customers hanging, ever.
Brian and Joan Gerhard"

Soon after, another post came out:

"Brian has just now informed me that He has got the company
back in his hands and the company will proceed in
relocating back east!!!! THIS IS VICTORY!!!

thanks for helping put the pressure on the money guy!
We will continue to have a Great Tophat amp company!!"

Alls well that ends well .... looks like North Carolina's a happening place with all those boutique amp designers - Top Hat joins Germino and Carr who are already based in NC.

Aw..... i was just thinking when i was reading your post that i should score a tophat now before the rich guy imposes cost cutting measures that turn them all to crap. Oh well, guess i can take a raincheck on that now. :D
