Ok guys.. I want to buy a new amp.. But got a difficult decision.. The amp that i want to choose is either Vox Pathfinder 15R or Marshall MG-15 MicroStack II..

I heard that Vox amp is good for clean sounds.. Whereas The Marshall is good for metal and hard rock sounds.. I really want a versatile amp that can go wif rock, metal, jazz and etc.. My knowledge abt amp is minimum so I really nid your help.. So what's your answer??

get the vox with a stompbox, should come up to about the same, if not less than the marshall, with the vox you get better cleans than the marshall, and with the pedal, you can wreck havoc with distortion, depending on which pedal you buy

The thing about testing amps is always bring ur own guitar to try it out. It seems u play a wide range of styles, a vox ad15vt or ad30vt would suit u better as it has about 11 amp mods, ranging from the cleans to the ultra high gains (amp mods include ur fenders, vox, marshalls, messa boogies and etc), so this amp suits a lot of styles.

Hmm.. ok.. So overall Vox is cater to my needs huh.. ok then.. Well.. Is Valvetronix better than Pathfinder in terms of cleans??

Try to get an amp with a better speaker size I guess.
Oh, and if you do try the Valvetronix, do keep in mind that the presets SUCK and they don't do too well with the high gain stuff. But the overdrive is sweeeet.
Yeah, keep tweaking, take your own sweet time.

Thanks wangdexian.. I seen that you are a pro in music industry huh?? :D :D

i love my Marshall Microstack! it's removed from its measly non-stack siblings tonally. thanks largely to the closed back dual cab inclusion.

affiliating a certain amp for certain tonal performances is too generalising. you should be testing prospective amps in person to hear what it is all about, best to bring your guitar along for the audition.

Bah humbug! Vox is for the BLUES.........................

In general, don't expect any small practise amp to sound like their fire breathing big brothers.

Marshall is known for its distortion.... but the small practise ones good for distortion? I can bet my Peavey Rage 108 distortion that its not.

A practise, transistor, diode clipping preamp circuit with 6" generic speakers in a small box does NOT sound like distortion meltdown to me. Unless a swarm of buzzing bees is your kinda sound.

IMHO(yeah right), for a practise transistor amp, get one that sound good clean and use pedals for your dirty sound. When I say practise amp I mean amps that you're going to play at room level.

Last but not least to end my little rant...

oh you'll have to ask wangdexian about this....

LOL. I just thought that Vox sounds pretty good doing the blues. Nothing wrong with that I suppose? No, I'm not a pro or anything, I just take in all the feedback from what my friends have experienced and myself have heard from the amp.
And what Sub means is that, if you look at a normal Marshall MG15CDR, the back of the amp is kinda "exposed", what they call open back. His mini stack is closed back.
