hi all. just bought my guitar two weeks ago. Been trying to find a way on how to start learning play my guitar. Can u guys gimme any tips?

chords are sounds produced when several strings are depressed at varying frets and when strummed. what hofner posted is how to read chords on songs that u find online, with the lyrics below and the chords just above them. u can find which strings to depress for what chord either online, or via a chord book. hope that was of help ^^

btw, for website with song lyrics + chords, u might wanna try mxtabs.net, or if u have the guitar pro program ( u can use the demo version, and if im not wrong, even after the 30 day trial period is up ) then u can get better tabs from mysongbook.com

if u want to learn from here u can never learn finish go and find out urself lah buy guitar thn dont know what to learn what a big joke?

Buy a guitar chord book and a song book that has a 1001 songs in it. Pick a song you know and learn the chords of that song.

Unfortunately young people today don't know a lot of folk or older pop songs where you can learn to play the guitar in the fastest possible way. That's because these older songs are easy to play with strong melody lines for singing.

The pop songs today are not easy to play on guitar for a learner, so can be very discouraging.

To know how to play these easy songs, buy one of those compilation CDs of 60s and 70s songs. Most of these songs with their chord charts are found in the songbooks on sale at the shop at Bras Basah ground floor. The big one infront of the escalator.

For example, The Goo Goo Dolls recently did a remake of the song 'Give a little bit'. A song popularised in the 70s by the group Supertramp. Try that song for start. Skip the guitar solos part and don't worry about those parts until you have your basics mastered. The chords are either found in those songbooks or easily available on the net. Just google for it.

yea man.....we shld all help out each other.

anyways dude, yea go get those guitar chord books. and start with the basic chords. mainly the major n minor chords. wld be gd to learn some power chords too. then after memorising all the fingerings on the fretboard for the chords.....its wld be gd to practice changing between chords ya. then u cld go online try looking for those oldies and stuff easy to play first n try it out.

oh yea! learn about ur guitar! wld definitely be good! :D cheers man.

IMO a good way to learn is to learn some songs/riffs/licks that are the kind of things that you want to play. If you are into GNR for example. there is little point in somebody (friend, teacher or other) showing you how to play Bebop jazz. If you do get some instructor, make sure they show you what you want to play - not what they want you to play. It's like that old saying "People who don't know where they're going, usually get there."

hahahahahah grap it dude!!! sounds like a bargain. 15 dollars... DEAD CHEAP..... bet he is a freshly baked music teacher. Lets get ready to learn your C chord, strumming.....
hahahahahahahaaah
