This bassist puts us guitarist to shame

I have scoured Youtube and found many gems, but nothing hit me as hard as this clip of Joe Pass and Niels Henning Orsted Pederson (NHOP) tearing up the famous Charlie Parker tune – DONNA LEE. This is an absolute gem that deserved to be archived in some Hall of Fame.

For all shredders on this planet, this is how it is done: with precision, perfect tempo and musicality. For those who are familiar with this tune, this is one of the more technically challenging tune that all Jazzers will attempt to play in their lifetime, and these 2 dudes played it at almost 300BPM, unreal. I played Donna Lee, but I think I wanna give up after watching them. They are from a different planet.

However, what impressed me most was NHOP’s playing. IMOH, he can give Ray Brown, Jaco and Wooten some serious bass lessons. Enjoy:

Yes yes. Watching it makes my fingers ache, my wrist sore and my stomach churn. Those of us who ever had the balls to attempt the double bass know that it's not a forgiving instrument. To play the deadly Donna Lee on it, at 300bmp is inhuman indeed. Nice post on Jim Hall. He's one of my favourite 'right brain' guitarist - doesnt blitz like Methany or Martino, but very very creative and inquisitive on his child-like approach.

u hit it on the nail, i was looking for that word - child like approach,
naive like a rocket scientist who still play with rocket toys yet respected in the field!

i've always wanted to put up some kind of note like this..
a vdo journal of some sort, where u can back track easily like a diary..
lets take a break, let's see some cool jam & eye candy at the same time -
