Hello there, I am looking for a low budget USB Condenser Microphone for recording vocals.

I have a 2 fans in my room which produces constant noise.

Does anyone knows which of these 3 mics would pick up less background noise?

Does anyone know the market price of these mics in Singapore & where I can get them?

I have used the Samson C01U...

but after using the Zoom H4, the Samson was kept in drawer for ages and recently sold to someone here.

Zoom H4N will give you better bang for bucks...

just my 2c...

Hi Rockballad,

Juz bought the AT2020 USB. Very good mic for my usage (acoustic guitar + vocals) and for the price

Check out Matrix Resource (Sim Lim Tower #B1-44) 62961664, boss is Sunny. Very nice and friendly, very patient and good knowledge. Nice setup there as he does his audio experiments there too. Have asked around several shops and his prices are really good! Juz give him a buzz

Not sure about the other mics you mentioned. But have used a few condenser mics, all are pretty sensitive to noise. Here are some ways I used to reduce the background noise:
(1) Place blanket near windows or noise inlets, helps to soften echos too
(2) Keep a distance btw the mic and the PC and other electrical devices
(3) Off your fans while recording
(4) Some mics have a casing which can reduce the 'B' and 'P's of voice recording. If dun have, can try use stocking (stretched over a wire frame) in front of the mic

Hope this helps!

Hi Phoebus,

Would just like to ask if you've got any recordings of yourself using the AT2020 that you'd be willing to share? And what programme are you currently hooking it up to? I've got a set coming in soon once I settle my qualms with vpost and their amazingly horrible customer service.

Cheers,
Marcus

everything in the process of recording Phoebus has already highlighted.

I'd just like to say in terms of branding and quality : you can place Behringer , Samson and Wharfedale on a table A and Audio Technica / Shure / Sennheisser / AKG / Rode on table B. and all the other groovetube/neumann/whatever high end studio mics on table C.

then putting Behringer / Samson and Audio Technica . the choice is obvious.

im not sure if i would put the at2020 at the same league with rodes and shures. tho that said, i have yet to try out the new shure usb mic.

but at2020 is definitely a bang for your buck!

another brand to check out is the SE stuff. on paper the specs don't look to great. but up against a at2020 its a no brainer if u don't look too much at the cheapest one

"im not sure if i would put the at2020 at the same league with rodes and shures." - "branding and quality"
but i'm sure i wouldn't put audiotechnica and behringer/samson together.
