It looks like a really promising lineup in AU. Echo & The Bunnymen are legends and worth the price of admission alone. Besides that and the aforementioned buzz bands there's Dirty Three (one of the most awesome live acts I've seen), The Middle East, Black Lips, Sarah Blasko and Dappled Cities among others.
But.
I wouldn't get my hopes up that all artistes will be playing in the SG leg (if it's still on - the official site has not mentioned any Singapore date yet, but the Google capture indicates Singapore - perhaps the page's been changed since?). It would not make commercial sense to fly all the artistes over as our collective turnout here would likely be lower than in the AU cities. Remember our watered down Taste Of Chaos lineup? Or the Big Night Out lineup of the Ting Tings and the Prodigy separately, which was nothing like the implied Big Day Out lineup they were playing at? We'd be lucky to get a couple of the headliners at Fort Canning at a jacked up ticket price to boot.
Still, keep your fingers crossed. There's hope in the fact that now Singapore's finally getting some buzz within the industry as a decent concert stopover...far from the days where Suede said in the NME that their Singapore gig had "pre-Soviet" stage equipment. Was that only 14 years ago?
